finally had a chance to check out your blogs, big brother. you make several good points, and it's great that you're showcasing the success stories, not just the horror stories...
I read your blog from the beginning. You certainly found something to not only think about, but act upon. Thank you for your horror and outrage and the pictorial history of probably the worst episode of animal cruelty in American history. We cannot do anything about the suffering that a natural disaster can inflict, but we can learn and perhaps change the callousness and uncaring mentality of those who do not see the importance and responsibilities that animal stewardship brings. It is agonising not to be able to be there to rescue and comfort all those in desperate need, but your photos give hope and so much appreciation for those who are there and doing all they can. Since this link was pointed out to me through a pet rescue list, I imagine many others will be seeing your blog today!
The original Oily Dog photo was taken by Tom Fox of Dallas Morning News. The same Tom Fox - I beleive - also took the picture you refer to from "So Much Torture..".
After examining both pics, side by side, I think, unfortunately, that they were both snapped just minutes apart. It seems to me that the man pictured, is the sanitation worker - operating the oil-removal truck. The pic is taken from the OTHER side of the truck - in darker light and at a different angle. Note the blue hose and yellow coupling coming from the truck in both pics. The telephone pole in background on both pics - same style. Also, same triangular brown roof in both pics - check them out closely and tell me if you agree.
I'm Sorry I couldn't help more. I applaud you for caring, and supporting the search for this poor little guy !
Thank you for your very kind comments ! Since you've been reading my blog from the start, you'll know that there was no original purpose for this site - it appears to have one now, lol. I would be overjoyed to be a part of changing a narrow-minded point of view or encouraging an exhausted rescuer, or just making someone angry enough to do ANYTHING that they're able - to end this nightmare.
The 'hits' are coming - you're right ! A little publicity seems to be at work here. That can only be a good thing, I imagine. Hopefully, visitors to this blog check out the links and support the rescue efforts where they can !
